Dwight David “Ike” Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 and died on March 28, 1969. Dwight was an American politician and soldier who served as the 34th President of the United States from 1953 to 1961.
When you love someone and they die, whether it’s a child, parent, cousin, fur-child or friend your life isn’t the same without them. It feels as if there is a serious hole in your heart and it hurts exquisitely. It feels as though it will never stop hurting and you pray for some reprieve and it’s not until you realize that they’re not totally gone. You can’t see them but sometimes you can feel them, smell them and you can always talk to them. No you aren’t who you were, you become someone else and you have to learn who that person is.
I think people can relate to what war is but that goes for any awful thing that one is involved in you can’t really know unless you’ve experienced something similar. Those who have gone through awful things need to give those people who are trying to understand and trying to relate a break because they are trying and the ignorant who haven’t experienced and think it’s just something that you can roll off of your back like you didn’t go through a train-wreck. Trauma and post traumatic stress is very real and not easy to live with but it is possible and I’m proof of that.
