If that is true than we all are actors in our lives because we all have the capability to compartmentalize our emotions and put them away until we’re done with work, until we deem it a better time to open up with our emotions. That is the trick often is finding that balancing act and pushing those feelings to a spot where they’re not bubbling up at the surface and spewing all over innocent bystanders. Sometimes though we cannot keep it at bay so easily and the fear and anxiety gets the better of us. That doesn’t mean we’re done with if we show some vulnerability. Sometimes that is exactly what is needed to get some reprieve.
Cancer sucks and that is the truth of it all. Last year two of my family members lost their lives because of cancer. I’ve learned some lessons about cancer from these two ladies, my aunt Louise and my dear cousin Nancy. Nancy’s battle was long and hard and for me it was unexpected for me to lose her and my aunt’s battle was much faster but not any easier. I’ve had many family members who have had cancer and lived and others who lost their battle. There are so many questions when it comes to cancer that still go unanswered which is why I find it interesting that we’re dealing with a pandemic for the coronavirus. Yes the coronavirus has been around for many years, I don’t know if it’s been around as long as cancer but I find it interesting that in a year we get a vaccine that we’re not entirely sure how it’s going to work for a virus that we’re not sure of many of the ins and outs of but our doctors or politicians would like us to trust that these vaccine’s will be the key to getting on top of it. Who is to say that’s the truth? Who’s to say it isn’t? It seems to affect us differently and yes there’s continued research into the virus and I’m sure we’ll learn more this year that we didn’t last. But how long will this last? Will we prevail? Will we get on top of it or will we succumb to it? No one knows.
This is something that I know that I look for with people closest to me. They have to have humility because having humility isn’t a weakness but some people I think they think that to show it is a weakness. Courage is not always brevity but it is being able to allow others to see your weakness because that is the way that we learn trust or at least the way that I have learned how to trust. If I show you weakness and you don’t chastise me or exploit it than I’m more likely to be more open with you. Empathy I’ve talked about before and it’s allowing yourself to think of what it is like to be in the others shoes and for some people who are empaths they can feel or sense feelings of others but that doesn’t necessarily mean they understand or can empathize. They can just feel the pain… being empathetic you need to imagine yourself in the others place, feeling and experiencing it as if it were you. That’s when you can gain more of a true understanding of whatever it is the other is dealing with.
