This quotes definitely describes me in where I identify with spirituality rather than religion. I think part of it is the constraints that many organized religions have and that most don’t look outside the box for the possibilities. Life is all about the possibilities that are out there, yes there are constraints but we need constraints to maintain a balance. We were also all created imperfect and anyone that thinks otherwise are fooling themselves.
I remember as a child playing and running around and thinking if I ran fast enough and jumped that I was flying and I liked that feeling of flying. I still love that feeling and have since been in a helicopter, sesna plane and commercial airplane. If I get to choose I usually like to have a window seat and have always enjoyed the view and especially the way that the clouds look when you’re flying above them. I don’t know what Layne was speaking of and if he was referring to possibility of ‘heaven’ or hell and the angel wings I think that many people have the ability to be good in life and I’m not sure what made him feel isolated or undeserving of getting one’s wings but I’d think that he got his wings.
One of the things about addiction is we know when we are addicted. We can choose to or not to allow addiction control our lives. There’s an endurance and perseverance that comes with being able to break addiction. Part of the problem is the feeling that we get when we use whatever it is and we tend to use cigarettes when stressed and drugs for pain for a temporary reprieve. What happens is that it is only temporary and you need to do more in order to get the fix.
I wanted to include a couple videos of songs that I enjoyed from Alice in Chains. There are more but these were probably the top two songs I liked the most. I Stay Away I loved the whole sound and music and how it seems to take you on a trip. For Man in the Box it still is a song that I love blasting and rocking out too. Thank you Layne Staley and Alice in Chains.
