Bob Ross Once Said… We Have Happy Little Accidents

Robert Norman Ross was born on October 29, 1942 and died July 4, 1995. Bob was an American painter, art instructor and television host of The Joy of Painting which was filmed at a studio with PBS in Indiana from January 11, 1983 to May 17, 1994.

We don’t make mistakes, just happy little accidents. – Bob Ross

As I was growing up I remember watching The Joy of Painting on PBS with my Dad and continued watching reruns as I got older and I think it was my Dad that got me a Bob Ross paint set which I still have but have since used the canvas and some of the paint. That is something that I would like to pick up again is painting since it has been quite awhile and I miss oil painting. Bob Ross was an early influence along with my Dad, my aunt Jeanne and then I started discovering art that inspired me like Vincent Van Gogh, Salvador Dali, Georgia O’Keeffe and Claude Monet.

If you don’t like it change it. It’s your world – Bob Ross

That is one of the wondrous things about being an artist and painting scenes or taking pictures is that you can manipulate what you see, you can change the way that others see things, you can express yourself and emotions. The sky is the limit with your imagination. I do love being an artist and that I explore all parts of the gift I’ve been given.

If we’re going to have animals around, we all have to be concerned about them and take care of them. – Bob Ross

That is something that I love as much as art is my love for cats or other animals. It is hard to think that what happened to Dexter and Luna isn’t partially my fault but I also have to allow myself to forgive myself for my part in that I allowed a bad person into my life and around my babies. I allowed them to be alone with him and they paid a hefty price for it and it breaks my heart and taught me a very tough lesson about love, grief and what I needed to do with my life and how I could save myself. I stand up against people that murder cats, dogs, and before people get me started, no I’m not a vegetarian but I also guarantee the meat I do eat died with a lot less heartbreak than my babies did. It was pure fucking evil and hate.

But I don’t want to leave this post on a negative note. Bob Ross was someone that I would say definitely taught me how to paint and draw trees. I found that I used what I watched him do while I have drawn them. So I had to include Bob Ross, thank you for your influence and years of happy little clouds and happy little trees.
