I know there have been times that I have tried to fit in and I think when you’re young that happens more and in some ways society perpetuates it. Sometimes when you show how unique you are, depending on what it is and when in your life you can be judged harshly and misunderstood. In many ways I think they want you to be a certain way as you’re learning and maturing but I think if and when you’re wrangled in too much then you just rebel more. I suppose it’s the way that we learn and figure out who we are. Not sure if people actually understand an artists mind, we do try to express it in many ways with what we do but often I think it is lost in translation. But that should never stop you from being who you are, be true to yourself.
If you believe that you’re not a freak in some way then you’re probably lying to yourself or lying to others. Usually we do try and cover that part of ourselves up because sometimes when we show it then it’s not received well. This shouldn’t stop you from trying to show the freak side of you to those closest to you. There should be someone other than yourself that knows exactly who you are and still loves you for it.
There’s messages in many of Pink’s songs and she’s such a strong presence with her fashion, music and being. It’s great seeing a woman being bold and being themselves which is why I like Pink.
These are very good philosophies on how to handle life and things that I have used in my personal life. I’m not saying that it’s easy but you have to try to put your best foot forward. It takes a lot of brevity to be brave in the face of fear and it takes a lot of strength to show you are strong when you may feel you’re at your weakest. Being humble is better than being a braggart and being badass goes without saying. I’d like to say I do feel pretty badass at times for what I’ve accomplished and what I achieved but I haven’t forgot how I got here.
I’ve always always loved this song and still do from the 4 Non Blonds with Linda Perry who has since been a songwriter for many artists and as you can see also at times plays with other artists.
