Johnny Carson Once Said…

John William Carson was born on October 23, 1925 and died on January 23, 2005. Johnny was an American television host, comedian, writer, and producer. Probably best known for being host of The Tonight Show which started October 1, 1962 with his last show on May 22, 1992

I know a man who gave up smoking, drinking, sex and rich food. He was healthy right up to the day he killed himself. – Johnny Carson

Now I know most of these have been inspirational quotes and I have talked about a wide variety of topics. This particular quote was either a joke Johnny said during the regular part of the show or something outside of that but I find it funny because many jokes have been made regarding being healthy and we’ve heard that George Burns would smoke a cigar every night and lived to be 100. Don’t get me wrong I’m not saying he didn’t or that smoking and drinking and eating rich foods are healthy. I think in moderation aside from smoking drinking, sex and rich food aren’t all that bad. Suppose it depends on your definition of rich and how much you drink or who you have sex with.

The only thing money gives you is the freedom of not worrying about money. – Johnny Carson

I’ve never been what I think of as rich or well off but I know that money is one of the main things that causes stress in families and individuals. Especially lack of money. With COVID19 and our economy having seen better days and jobs being scarce, there are so many people worrying about losing their things, their houses, their cars and it’s heartbreaking and then you also have to worry on top of it about this nasty virus which has killed so many people. I really hope that we can come out the other side of this mess and be able to see the world a bit differently.

For 3 days after death hair and fingernails continue to grow but the phone calls taper off. – Johnny Carson

This is true along with some other disturbing details about what happens with ones body at death but I won’t get into those details. I just enjoyed this joke from Carson although I think nowadays those calls don’t just end after 3 days… they might for you receiving them but I know in this age of telemarketers they’ll probably continue texting and sending junk mail for years. And reminders to vote…. speaking of which just how many times can you be reminded to vote, or to vote for this or that person, to register to vote (even after you have registered). 2020 has made it voting rather annoying…very disturbingly annoying.
