Martina Navratilova Once Said…

Martina Navratilova was born on October 18, 1956. Martina is a Czechoslovak-born American former professional tennis player and coach. She is considered to be one of the best female tennis players of all time.

Once you start believing in yourself, anything is possible. Once you start believing in yourself, your dreams take shape. The more you believe, the more you achieve. – Martina Navratilova

Very wise words indeed and that is why it is so important to establish a positive self image, you are the one that is with you all the time with no breaks. Give yourself a break and don’t be so hard on yourself. There are plenty of people along the way who are more than willing to do that for you and you have to believe you’re better than that, really believe that you are worth it. It starts off small and it’s hard to teach yourself that but you’ll notice you will feel much more confident and happier.

Just by being our you’re doing your part. It’s like recycling. You’re doing your part for the environment if you recycle; you’re doing your part for the gay movement if you’re out. – Martina Navratilova

One could look at this with many things in life, not just being gay or straight, when you’re open about the things that hold a stigma the more open you are about it the more accepting people will start to be. It all starts with one person doing their part and the rest will fall into place…. eventually. I mean I look at how much has changed for homosexuals. When I was a child it was practically a crime to be considered gay and while it was misinformation from rumours that I was gay. I know it wasn’t a fun experience for me. But now in the United States there was a Supreme Court Ruling to recognize same-sex marriage.

This is not about special rights, it’s about equality. If I marry a woman, how does that affect anyone else? – Martina Navratilova

I know some like to say that same sex relationships are an abomination but really it is not, they are two people that chose each other and want to have the same respect as husband and wife. Women have been fighting for equality for a very long time and I think that’s part of what the issue is when people look at same sex marriage. Some say it’s because they cannot have a child together…. they can, they could adopt because there are plenty of people that don’t want children that give them up and of course if it’s two women they have the possibility of becoming pregnant with a sperm donation. It is possible to have two men or two women raise children and now with the passing of same sex marriage it is more common place. They are still fighting in some states because of old outdated laws. Isn’t it time to really go through it all, get rid of the rediculous laws and being them into our century?
