I have to admit I was a bit surprised when Barack Obama became president… it wasn’t as if I didn’t feel he was capable of the job but it surprised me because of the amount of racism that exists in our world. That is something that has been around since probably the beginning of time and I’d like to say that the cycle will be broken one day but it has such deep roots.
It is quite apparent when you go out and interact with society that it seems a great number of people just don’t care what they look like. I feel that it is important to look presentable and not to go in public wearing your pajamas. I don’t know exactly when this started being okay and you’ll always fine more than one person shopping wearing them. For me at least the only time I’ve gone in public close to that was when I broke my foot but I want to say I still wasn’t wearing pj’s at the time. Some believe that seeing one in them is more of a private thing and it’s not because I’m some kind of prude that I feel that way. I just consider it a bit lazy.
I love this analogy regarding faith when we’re younger and as we age. I feel it is very true, while we’re young we are more eager for knowledge of spirituality and life and as we age the glass gets bigger. I think for many people that as their glass gets bigger they forget how to fill it and we start questioning whether there was anything in the glass. We need to actively fill our glasses with knowledge, hope and faith.
For a good part of my life I’d say that I had a harsher or darker way of viewing things and felt almost as if there were some kind of curse on me that was making things happen that were unpleasant in my life. I feel that is something I’ve been learning to grow out of and I feel that I’ve learned this with mindfulness and therapy. Seeing the world in a different light isn’t always easy to do and there are days I still find my lip bleeding from the glass but I want to get rid of that glass once and for all. It takes time and practice but everyone if they try can see the lighter side of life.
