Jerome John Garcia was born on August 1, 1942 and died on August 9, 1995. Jerry was an American singer-songwriter and guitarist and best known for being lead singer and guitarist for Grateful Dead.

I don’t think you have to be a hippie to want to make things right in this world. I think that many of the people in Jerry’s time and John Lennon’s time had a lot of really good ideas and wanted peace. We still need to address the wrongs of our society, that has not changed since the dawn of time… maybe a little bit but not enough. I think it’s time for a change. A real change and peace.

Jerry Garcia was definitely all about peace and love and spreading those ideas to everyone he touched. He tried his best with his followers and some of those people still exist today. I’m not necessarily a follower but I like Jerry’s ideas and I support them and as the human race we do need to step ahead many steps towards peace and simplicity.

And isn’t it a bit ironic that we would be prejudiced against other countries. Our ancestors, the people who first came to America were from other countries, were other races, other religions… America is supposed to be a free country, with freedom of speech and equality and justice for all.
