John Quincy Adams was born on July 11, 1767 and died on February 23, 1848. John was an American statesman, diplomat, lawyer, and diarist who served as the Sixth President of the United States, from 1825 to 1829. John was the oldest son of John Adams who was the Second President of the United States. It is said that John has had the highest IQ of any U.S. President with an IQ of 165.

John Quincy Adams was a long time opponent of slavery and had prophesied about it in a journal stating, “bring about a day prophesied when slavery and war shall be banished from the face of the earth.” in 1820. Adams joined the Supreme Court case, United States vs The Amistad by request to speak up on behalf of African slaves who had revolted and seized the Spanish ship Amistad.

It is said that John Quincy Adams often suffered from depression so I do believe that it was his courage and perseverance that helped him become a successful lawyer, politician and spokesperson. I believe it also helped shape him into someone that had compassion for others. Mental illness is something that many people struggle with but it doesn’t have to limit your success.

Being a leader isn’t always easy and it takes a lot of hard work to learn, do and become more than the average person. I aspire to lead by example with my words, my art and photography. I want people to learn from my mistakes, be inspired by something I show them or something I said to do what they want to do in life. I believe inspiration comes from many places and if I can touch just one, it makes it worthwhile.
