Ringo Starr Once Said…

Sir Richard Starkey otherwise known as Ringo Starr was born on July 7, 1940. Ringo Starr is an English musician, singer, songwriter and actor who gained worldwide fame as the drummer for the Beatles.

I’ve never really done anything to create what has happened. It creates itself. I’m here because it happened. But I didn’t do anything to make it happen apart from saying yes. – Ringo Starr

There was definitely something magical that happened when John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr decided to play together as the Beatles. That is what I believe Ringo is talking about with his quote in regards to that he didn’t do anything apart from agreeing to be a part of the Beatles.

I play drums. It was a conscious moment in my life when I said the rest of things were getting in the way. I didn’t do it to become rich and famous. I did it because it was the love of my life. – Ringo

Ringo’s quote about playing drums and it being a conscious moment to focus on being a drummer because it was the love of his life. How many people can say that they love what they’re doing? Can you? Can you say that you’d quit other things that were in the way so you could only do your job? That’s what we call passion and focus and that is what we need to find in ourselves is that passion so we can say we love what we’re doing.

Being in The Beatles was a short, incredible period of my life. I had 22 years leading up to it, and it was all over eight years later. – Ringo Starr

The Beatles were active from 1960-1970 but Ringo joined them in August of 1962. The Beatles landed at JFK airport February 7, 1964 to appear on the Ed Sullivan show for their first live performance two days after arriving in the United States, 34% of America’s population at the time (73 million users in over 23 million homes). Beatlemania started the day after their first US concert and the world has been entranced by them ever since.

I feel the older I get, the more I’m learning to handle life. Being on this quest for a long time, it’s about finding yourself. – Ringo Starr

When you put things into perspective for Ringo’s part as I pointed out with the previous quote he was only in the Beatles for 8 of the 10 years they were together. It’s Ringo’s 80th birthday today and if you take out the first 22 years and subsequent 8 years for 30 of his 80 you’ll find that he was brilliant as well on his own accord. He played drums for John Lennon/Plastic Ono band and played on several of George Harrison’s solo albums.

In 1989 Ringo started the Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band which has included many people throughout the years such as Joe Walsh (Eagles), Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Stevie Nicks, Peter Frampton, Jeff Lynn (ELO), Billy Squire, Colin Hay (Men at Work) and many others that were either in the studio with him or were on tour or showed up for certain shows. I think for Ringo he has a good handle on who he is because he has surrounded himself throughout his 80 years and figured out most of it when he started with the Beatles and still going strong 58 years later.

What’s my Name is Ringo Starr’s 20th studio album which was released in October of 2019 and rescheduled the tour dates for 2020 due to the corona virus pandemic to the spring of 2021. He also plans on having a birthday celebration. Join him in spreading a global wave of Peace & Love at noon TODAY July 7th.

With a Little Help From my Friends – Ringo Starr & Paul McCartney

Finale performance of “With A Little Help From My Friends” at the 2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Ceremony of which Ringo Starr was inducted as solo artist. He was inducted the first time into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 for being one of the Beatles. I included this because it happens to be my favorite song that Ringo sang with the Beatles. He was appointed Knight Bachelor (Sir) in 2018 for his services to music. It is definitely an iconic song which was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon but I think it’s best lead by Ringo and whoever he has sing along with him.
