Elton John Once Said…

Sir Elton Hercules John was born Reginald Kenneth Dwight on March 25, 1947. Elton is an English singer, songwriter, pianist, and composer. One very interesting piece of information that I didn’t know about him is that Elton is an admirer of Monty Python as am I and that he was part of a group of musicians that helped finance the movie “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”. That of course just happens to be one of my favorite funny movies and go to for a pick me up so thank you Elton for helping finance the movie.

Music has healing power. It has the ability to take people out of themselves for a few hours. – Elton John

I couldn’t agree more with this quote. Music for me has always helped heal whatever angst I was going through and Elton John’s music for me has been included. I like a variety of music and I have found that it depends on what I’m going through for me to pick who I want to listen to. For me going to concerts is more than just about the music as a photographer I’ve enjoyed the feeling of the crowd and being among them and capturing that moment.

Religion promotes the hatred and spite against gays. From my point of view, I would ban religion completely. Organized religion doesn’t seem to work. It turns people into really hateful lemmings and it’s not really compassionate. – Elton John

I consider myself a spiritual person not a religious person and I’m not sure if any one religion is all right or all wrong. I think as I’ve grown and experienced going to the Kingdom Hall (Jehovah’s Witness), Catholic Church, Lutheran Church and Church of Christ. I don’t have a problem with organized religion personally but I do understand and have to agree especially from observation that many religions do promote hatred against homosexuality and abortion or birth control.

People who have considered themselves to be Christians or Muslim’s and killing people in the name of their particular religion I don’t agree with. I think people twist religion and or they cherry pick parts of different bibles, religious scripts and books to design things that they feel should be right.

That’s why I have found that spirituality makes sense to me more. I don’t feel you have to go to Church every Sunday or Saturday or even be baptized in order to go to heaven or that you will go to hell if you’ve ever sinned or that if you do x amount of hail mary’s or our father’s that it will absolve you of sins. I feel what really matters in life is that you’re a good and decent human being that doesn’t see color or race or religion or sexual preference, that you aren’t inherently evil by abusing or torturing people or animals or destroying the world or each other. Be empathetic, be understanding, give peace a chance and treat people with respect and equality. Don’t be assholes.

My advice to you is never chase love – it will find you when you least expect it. – Elton John

Elton’s quote about not chasing love and that it’ll find you I believe is true. Chasing love tends to make it go away. I’m not saying that one doesn’t have to work to make things work or work at love, you do. In order to maintain a good relationship regardless you have to put in the work. Love can’t really be stalked or chased. It is found and sometimes in unexpected ways and love means everything.

Black Gives Away to Blue – Alice in Chains

Something else I found out about Elton is that he collaborated with Alice in Chains playing piano on a song that the band did for memory of Layne Stanley, “Black Gives Away to Blue”.
