J.K. Rowling Once Said…

If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals. – J.K. Rowling

It never ceases to amaze me as a woman how charming and funny men can be for awhile and then they turn and show their darkness. I’ve met so many men that do not treat women as equals and we should all be treated equally. But we’ve been struggling for years to gain that and while we have made strides and there are many leading ladies, strong female role-models and leaders we still have a long way to go. Women want to help, want to feel like we have a purpose and to get noticed for what we do or try to do and not have our partners view us as underlings or less than they are.

We all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are. – J.K. Rowling

I am well acquainted with the light and dark inside me but I think my darkness came from being a survivor of sexual assault, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, neglect which for me resulted in post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety. The mood swings and panic attacks and the rest of the ailments that come with it make it more difficult to see the light and I try to see the silver lining and hold onto hope but I sometimes need a little help. I do go to therapy, take medications, attend support groups and that is what I am doing for myself. These are people that get paid to deal with me but who are the ones that help on the outside to help remind me that I’m not alone and that I do have people that support me. I choose everyday to share strong men and women and inspiring quotes, positive affirmations and do mindfulness and other things to stay positive but I still need others.

We do not need magic to change the world, we carry all the power we need inside ourselves already. We have the power to imagine better.

There is a certain magic that resides in us which is our creativity, imagination, hope, love and other things and we do have that power to use those things to change the world. I am doing my best to do my part. What are you doing for your part?
