Dwayne Douglas Johnson aka The Rock was born on May 2, 1972. Dwayne is an actor, producer, businessman, retired professional wrestler and former professional football player.
Dwayne’s quote about respect is poignant. It may not always be easy to respect one another but no matter what you should try to respect each other. It’s the decent thing, morally good thing to do and not many are taught to respect one another and I think that’s part of what’s messed up in this world. We need to learn to respect each other better and be kinder and more understanding.
The second quote I chose from Dwayne is about how depression isn’t discriminatory. Mental illnesses such as anxiety, post traumatic stress disorder and bipolar disorder do not discriminate. It doesn’t care what race, religion or gender you are. It affects the old and the young, rich and poor, celebrities and nobodies. It affects me because I have post traumatic stress disorder, general anxiety disorder and depression but I still persevere. The more we learn about mental illness and open up about it and get rid of the stigma that has lingered for many years around it I feel the better we will know how to help each other and understand these illnesses better. We’ll be able to treat them better and more efficiently. We shouldn’t be afraid to open up about the things we’ve gone through in our lives that have changed and shaped us into who we are and that’s part of the reason I write everyday is to learn from myself and to help others.
