Selena Quintanilla-Pérez Once Said…

Selena Quintanilla-Pérez was born on April 16, 1971 and died on March 31, 1995. Selena was an American singer, songwriter, spokesperson, model, actress, and fashion designer.

If you have a dream, don’t let anyone take it away. And always believe that the impossible is always possible. – Selena Quintanilla-Pérez

I picked Selena because today was the day she was born and we should continue to celebrate her life that was unfortunately cut too short. I lived in Corpus Christi, Texas in Molina (the same neighborhood) that Selena grew up on. I walked the same streets she did and also visited her museum and the statue they have by the marina. Corpus Christi was her home and was mine for several years.

The first quote I picked from Selena is similar to the Audrey Hepburn quote where she points out Impossible is not impossible and contains I’m possible and Selena’s take on it that the Impossible is always possible and to not let anyone take away your dreams and to dream. I agree completely with both that you should go after your dreams and not let anyone take them away from you and believe in the impossible.

The goal isn’t to live forever but to create something that will. – Selena Quintanilla-Pérez

The second quote is about not living forever but creating something that will. As an artist and photographer and writer I strive at this daily to leave something behind that will last forever.
