George Washington Once Said…

George Washington was born February 22, 1732 and died December 14, 1799. He was an American political leader, military general, statesman, and Founding Father who served as the first president of the United States from 1789 to 1797. Previously, he led Patriot forces to victory in the nation’s War for Independence.

If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter. -George Washington

He presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, which established the U.S. Constitution and a federal government. Washington has been called the “Father of His Country” for his manifold leadership in the formative days of the new nation.

George Washington was also a Freemason and was part of the Federalist Party, at the time no parties existed but Federalist or Cosmopolitans. Washington would’ve been the first.

I chose our first president and this quote regarding freedom of speech because I believe it is our rights as citizens of the United States. I think sometimes we forget this right.
